RIO LINDA, CA (MPG) – The 43rd annual National Night Out brought residents, community organizations and law enforcement together for a night of valuable connection on Tuesday, Aug. 4. Hosted by Rio Linda Elverta Neighborhood Association, Rio Linda Elverta Teen Council and Youth Program and the Rio Linda Library, the evening saw a solid turnout, while not its largest.

Among participants was the Rio Linda Lions Club whose booth offered fresh watermelon and games. The organization took to Facebook after the event to thank those who showed up and engaged with the club.

“A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, community partners, and everyone who came out to celebrate with us. We can’t wait to see you all again at our next community event!” the Lions Club wrote.

Also present was the Rio Linda Elverta Recreation-Parks District. The district used the community event to discuss the Park Master Plan and Central Park Horse Arena, an equestrian facility maintained by the district, with residents.

“Your input is invaluable and helps us make informed decisions that reflect the needs and interests of our community,” the district wrote on its Facebook page.

As the event seeks to connect residents with law enforcement officials in a casual, neighborly setting, police officers from Twin Rivers Unified School District were present at the event, engaging with children and providing community resources. Representatives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District were also present.

Other organizations in attendance included Rio Linda High School FFA & Leadership, Gateway Community Charters, Rio Linda Grange, Girl Scouts, Boddie Family Boxing Academy and more.
