SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Every dog deserves a birthday and a chance to celebrate it in a loving home. On Aug. 1, animal shelters across the country celebrate DOGust, the universal birthday for shelter dogs whose exact birthdays are unknown. Since many shelter pets arrive without birth records, DOGust gives them all a special day to be recognized and celebrated.

To mark the occasion, Sacramento County Bradshaw Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees for all dogs from Aug. 1 through Aug. 23. Whether you're looking for an active walking partner, a family companion or a relaxed couch buddy, Bradshaw Animal Shelter has dogs of all ages, sizes and personalities ready for adoption.

Every adopted dog goes home spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and are ready to begin life with a new family.

Choosing adoption doesn't just change one dog's life. Every adoption creates kennel space for another animal in need and helps the shelter continue serving pets throughout Sacramento County.

Residents are encouraged to visit the shelter between Aug. 1 and Aug. 23 to meet adoptable dogs and take advantage of waived adoptions fees.
