Hometown Festivities Light Up Rio Linda

RIO LINDA, CA (MPG) - Saturday, Dec. 13 saw a day of festive activities for Rio Linda. The day began at 8 a.m. with Breakfast for Santa at the Rio Linda Elverta Community Center, 810 Oak Lane, Rio Linda. Families and young ones filled the community center to enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, eggs and ham, hot chocolate and coffee for the adults. Free photos with Santa were offered. The breakfast was made possible thanks to sponsors including Rio Linda FFA, Rio Linda Elverta Country Lions and Gregory Realty Group.

Beginning at 9 a.m., families could holiday shop and walk off their breakfast at Rio Linda High School’s 5th Annual Christmas Bazaar. The annual holiday market featured more than 80 local vendors offering unique, handmade gifts. The event, which ran until 2 pm. also included free kids’ crafts, treats and raffles going on all day long.

Finally, the merry day’s events wrapped up with the Hometown Christmas Light Parade starting at 6 p.m. The parade, which took over M Street in Downtown Rio Linda, lit up the evening with holiday cheer, hometown pride and plenty of floats including a Christmas farm-themed float by Rio Linda Parks and Recreation District.

“Our Christmas Farm float was proud to roll through and celebrate alongside such an amazing community. We are truly blessed to be part of a community that comes together to spread so much holiday cheer,” wrote the by Rio Linda Parks and Recreation District on their Facebook page.
If you weren’t already in the holiday spirit, Saturday’s events were sure to get every Rio Linda resident feeling the warmth and joy of the season.
