SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) – The Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Parks District’s summer camp took 25 youth on a field trip Wednesday to Sutter Health Park for a Sacramento River Cats minor league baseball game against the Oklahoma City Comets.

Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Parks District Recreation Supervisor Yanni Lagge said the children were accompanied by six leaders, with tickets provided by the district’s General Manager Mike Heller.

Lagge said the children had the opportunity to walk the field at Sutter Health and she was excited to provide the field trip experience as a part of the summer camp.

Children caught foul balls during the game and had them autographed by a couple of players after the game.

The district’s summer day camp started on June 9 and lasts through Aug. 8, with registration costing $390 until Aug. 4, where the registration cost drops to $195, with the disclaimer that the camp is “only one week,” according to the district’s website at rleparks.com.

The summer day camp is for children ages 4 to 13 and all participants must be fully potty trained, according to the district’s website. The camp takes place at Depot Park, located at 6370 Front St., Rio Linda from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no early drop-off or late pick-up.

According to the district’s website, the day camp is an engaging way for children to combine socialization, adventure, group activities into an “action-packed” day, featuring field trips, pool time and games.

Last year, Lagge said around six other kids' programs were in attendance, but it was not a multi-district coordinated effort.

According to the district’s Facebook page, the field trip was a “summer camp takeover at the River Cats Game.”

Lagge said the next summer day camp field trip will be at the Sacramento Children’s Museum.

Registration for all of the district’s summer activities can be found at its website unless stated that no registration is required. The Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Parks District can be reached by phone at 916-991-5929.
