RIO LINDA, CA (MPG) - The Rio Linda Little League will mark the start of its 66th season on Saturday, March 8, with a festive parade down M Street, beginning at 9 a.m. The parade will feature 29 team floats, all decorated in line with this year’s theme: mascots.
In addition to the colorful floats, the parade will be led by 15 classic cars from the Cherrietters Car Club, with several local organizations also joining the procession. Participating groups include the Rio Linda Lions Club, American Legion Hall Post 521 and Capitol Quarter Midget Association.

“Opening Day is more than just the start of the season; it’s a celebration of our community, our players and the love of the game,” said Rio Linda Little League President Brooke Riley-Sowles. “At Rio Linda Little League, we’re proud to provide a place where kids can learn teamwork, build confidence and create lifelong memories. We’re excited to kick off another season of fun, growth and great baseball and softball. Let’s play ball.”
This beloved tradition has become a fixture in Rio Linda, with the community eagerly awaiting the parade each year. The league is one of the few still holding such an event, according to the Rio Linda Little League.

Additionally, top fundraiser sellers will be honored, and opening day games will kick off the new season.
The Rio Linda Little League serves about 347 local youth, providing baseball and softball programs. The season will run through May 17.
