After being interviewed recently by ABC10’s Mark S. Allen, a seven-time Emmy Award winning member of the news team, an uplifting story about Mr. Williams will air multiple times throughout the month of June.
Known as a caring teacher who goes the extra mile to ensure the greatest success for his students, Mr. Williams currently teaches math and ELA (English Language Arts) to 7th & 8th graders at F.C. Joyce Elementary School in the Twin Rivers Unified School District, where he’s worked for the last seven years. Prior to his current teaching position, he also worked for 11 years in Special Education. Mr. Williams takes the time to really listen to and connect with his students so he can help those who are struggling to reach their greatest potential.
When asked for advice for future teachers, Mr. Williams replied: “Really pay attention to how the other teachers around you teach. I've learned so much from so many of my peers. From my mentor teachers to my friends, they have all helped me find what works best for me and I'm forever grateful for that. The other thing is really listen to your kids. I've found my best success with my students by listening to what they really need from me.”
As part of being recognized as Teacher of the Month, Mr. Williams will receive $1,000 from SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union plus will be eligible for the title of ABC10’s Esquire IMAX Teacher of the Year – that includes a $5,000 prize – which will be announced at a special awards ceremony next year.
