RIO LINDA, CA (MPG) - The Rio Linda High School varsity football team has now won two games in a row following a dominant 48-7 win over Cordova on Friday, September 2 in the team’s home opener.

The Knights won their first game of the season in a gritty 12-6 victory at Kennedy on August 26. Cordova (0-3) has now been outscored 137-21 through three games under first-year interim head coach Kyle Williams. The Lancers’ defense has allowed at least 41 points to all of their opponents so far this season.

Rio Linda began Friday’s game with a strong first quarter, outscoring Cordova 14-0. The second period was encouraging for the Lancers, as both teams scored one touchdown each. With 13 points in the third quarter and 14 in the final period, the Knights put the game away in the second half scoring 27 unanswered points. Rio Linda defeated Cordova 48-7.

Statistics for both teams were unavailable as of press time. The Knights will now have a bye week before taking on Foothill (1-1) on September 16.
