RIO LINDA, CA (MPG) - The well-loved and well-known Sally McGrath had her goodbye party a few days ago.

For the past 10 years she has been the cheery face, our Librarian. There was a beautiful cake made by I & C Mexican Bakery by the Rio Linda Arches. The icing was so fluffy, lots of edible multi-colored roses on top. Placed all around the cake were real, fragrant roses, from the ‘Mott Ranch.’ Sally told us all, “I am just moving down the road to the South Natomas Library, where I will be the new Branch Supervisor. Please come by and say hello.”

Many of her well-wishers had known her when they first came to the library and now bring their children and grandchildren to this library. Such was the case with Becca Perez who brought her daughter Vienna Perez, 5 years old, to say goodbye.

Ms. McGrath was a big help during Covid when the military set up in the library parking lot to give out free covid shots to Rio Lindans and surrounding towns who wanted to get their shot. She also started a ‘seed’ packet giveaway at the Library. There are still seeds available for planting. Flowers and vegetables. Also, as part of the Friends of the Library, they try to get others to know how valuable the library can be. There are even computers you can use while there.

Sally will be missed, but not gone and will be around to support her Rio Linda. She was telling me about a quilt trail project coming up for the Rio Linda area. Ann Marie Tomlinson can be asked all about this project and all the quilts you see on the sides of buildings. I will find out more about this quilt project and often wondered about the quilts I have seen around town.

I will let you know all about it over the summer. Breath, smile, laugh when you can.
