To Staff and the Twin Rivers School Community,
The return of our students and staff to in-person instruction was exciting to watch, although it feels a bit odd having our “welcome back” and our end-of-year celebrations so close together. Yes, we are finalizing details for our graduation and promotion ceremonies with the safety of our students, staff, families and the community in mind. We must honor and celebrate our students’ hard work and accomplishments during this unprecedented and challenging school year.
As we move forward with working out all the details, we will be sure to keep you posted.
Here’s where we stand today:
Class of 2021 Graduation: These wonderful and hard-earned ceremonies will be in-person with a limited number of tickets available to each student’s household to allow for social distancing between families. We are currently working through various scenarios and the many logistical challenges so that we can offer this experience to our students and families while adhering to public health guidelines. Please expect more details to be shared by the end of this month.
K-8 Promotions: We are planning to host virtual elementary and middle school celebrations to ensure that we do not violate any public health guidelines regarding physical distancing. This very difficult decision was made with the safety of our students, staff, families and community in mind. Also, we want to allow our staff to focus their energy on student learning, for both our students in hybrid and those continuing to learn online; therefore, we do not want to add the challenge of creating large events that must strictly observe all public health guidelines. Thank you for understanding.
A reminder: registration for summer school is open until April 30. Families, please consider taking advantage of this opportunity to help your students continue to progress academically. For some students, distance learning may have caused some learning gaps, and we want you to know that summer school can be a terrific way to gain some extra support and get ready for an awesome return to school in the fall.
We are offering both in-person and virtual programs that you can register for at our website. For more information please contact your school site.
As always, stay vigilant about the public health guidelines. Wear your face covering and respect the physical distancing recommendations. We’re moving in the right direction, and we should all do our part to keep the forward momentum.
Have a wonderful weekend.
All the best,
Steve Martinez, Ed.D.
