There really, really is NO PLACE like home

What was that?

I knew a storm was coming but, wow, I and most of Rio Linda were caught off guard. We lost electricity around 10:30 pm. Woke up to a cold house, still no electricity and worse, no coffee. To get warm we decided to go to our car and turn on heat. Then, “why not drive around and see what happened.” Off we set to see. WOW, we saw electric poles snapped in half. Four in a row in front of the HS. Also, snapped pole on 2nd and Q. There were loose animals from blown down fences. Several trampolines blown to the side of the road, even in the road on I street off of 22nd. Also on Q street a storage business had its roof ripped off. Lastly, right on Elkhorn a huge length of new fencing was blown over.  I had only seen this kind of damage on TV when a tornado went through. It was startling.

We then drove home and found our electricity was on. Once in the door husband headed to make coffee and I went to check on our farm. All in all we just lost a metal gated horse shelter. No animals were in it as we thought it better to give them freedom in such a storm, so so so grateful this happened. Coffee was great and we settled in to down load our pictures to Rio Linda website. Amazing storm. There really, really is NO PLACE like home. Be safe out there.
